Welcome to the first post on the Redideo Artworks blog!
This website has been in progress for quite some time. Part of that was because I wanted to really dial it in and make sure it felt right, but also because I wanted to have new artwork ready for it. I didn’t want to rush it just to get something online. I wanted it to feel more intentional and more focused.
I also went through a move and needed time to get settled in the Gaslamp, so that was part of the process too. The move has been awesome, and I now have a great space to be creative and make art. A lot was happening at once, and I wanted to give this the time and attention it deserved.
Why Redideo Artworks Needed Its Own Space
Originally, all of my artwork was on the Redideo Studio website, but as Redideo Studio became more focused on marketing and business, it became clear the art needed its own dedicated home.
What worked before started to feel too crowded, too complicated, and not focused enough for the artwork. I wanted a place where the art could stand on its own and have room to grow.
What’s on the Site Right Now
Right now, Volume 1 of my vinyl record artwork is on the website. I created those pieces around 2020 to 2021, and it felt right to have them be the first body of work featured here. They were a major part of this creative chapter for me and helped define the direction of the site.
That series came out of experimenting with different painting styles and seeing what I could do with vinyl records as a surface. I was trying different looks, different textures, and different ways of building each piece until it felt right. A lot of it came from just exploring and letting the process lead.
After finishing the painted artwork, I coated the pieces in epoxy resin. That final layer really changed them. It added depth, brought out the color, and gave each piece a glossy finish that made it feel more alive and complete.
I’m working hard to get Volume 2 published next, and there’s still a lot more to come.
What to Expect From This Blog
This blog is going to be a place for behind-the-scenes updates, news, new events, insights, progress on upcoming work, and probably a few other things as they happen.
I want it to be a space where I can share more of the actual process, not just the finished pieces. That includes ideas in progress, experiments that lead somewhere interesting, updates on new artwork, and some of the thinking behind what I’m making. Sometimes that might mean showing works in progress, talking about materials or techniques, sharing event news, or posting quick updates when something new is on the way.
Not everything worth sharing is a polished final piece, and I like the idea of having a place for the in-between moments too. This gives me a way to document the creative side of things as it unfolds.
